To BoostEnergy, Create Art!

Stress is a common issue that many of us in the modern world deal with daily. The rhythms of modern life are becoming faster every day with the prevalence of our society. It can be pressure from work, family, study, peer group or society, which may lead to tremendous strain and stress and can adversely affect both physically and mentally. In many cases, stress becomes overwhelming until it is ignored, and the person chooses not to take care of themselves and resolve it in time. Long-term stress may affect one’s brain, causing vulnerability to severe depression, anxiety, and frustration, leading to difficulties in making decisions, poorer concentration, lack of interest and much more.

It is here that “ART/CREATIVE ART” intervention comes in to improve/ release overall stress. Art has been used as a positive therapy as a stress reliever for years. It is a form of mental health treatment and a person’s creativity to process and understand emotions while creating any art form therapeutically, be it a simple sketch, music, or sculpturing. Creating art can drop the stress levels exponentially in a person and allow to focus his/her mind on processing the emotions and working on the emotional release. It also helps a person to relax, de-stress, comfort, and get the mind off whatever may be bothering him/ her.

Art is very similar to Meditation. It helps one to clear the head and mind from all sorts of negativities in and around oneself. A person’s mind gets immersed in its own creation. Art helps deal with things going around, and the brain gets recharged, and the mind can focus more on this work area and responsibility. Observing children while they create art, be it a painting, a simple drawing or any craft, gives them a sense of joy and confidence. However, adults do not often think of practising the same, which can do wonders for everyone.

The most significant aspect of Art Therapy is the ability to help a person relax and get out of the pressure to be better than others or to be the best in whatever they are creating. In many cases, it has been a way to regain the person’s confidence, bring back his wisdom, and build immense self-esteem and a sense of accomplishment.

Art comes with multiple benefits:

  • Helps to build self-confidence
  • Can face the problems in life with a fresh mind
  • Makes ready to be a risk-taker
  • Have the mental strength to take on challenges in life
  • Offers an emotional release
  • Self-awareness

The bottom line is that ART is one of the best and most precious gifts one can give oneself. Art is Divine, Genuine, Pure and Eternal, which can translate into one’s emotion. Art is the mirror of an individual’s mind and thoughts. So next time, if someone takes out a paintbrush, allow it to flow, take its colour and shape, and let it be one’s masterpiece that one can revisit.
